چکیده

While patients with localized osteosarcoma have excellent survival rates, the prognosis for those with advanced disease is significantly worse despite aggressive multimodality therapies [1]. To overcome these limitations novel treatments are needed, especially for children and young adults with metastatic and/or recurrent osteosarcoma, whose poor rates of survival have remained relatively unchanged for decades. Immunotherapy with genetically modified T cells (Figure 1) offers a promising alternative to conventional cytotoxic chemotherapies because T-cell killing does not rely on mechanisms employed by these cytotoxic agents [2,3].

CAR T-cell Therapy of Hematologic Malignancies: An Update in Targeted Antigens

Immunotherapy with genetically engineered T-cells that express the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) has raised hopes for the treatment of pediatric malignancies. Although CAR T-cell development is on a fast-moving pace and evolution, the context of exploring novel targetable antigens has been neglected. In this review study, we analyze the prominent hematologic antigens targeted by engineered T-...

Genetically modified T cells targeting interleukin-11 receptor α-chain kill human osteosarcoma cells and induce the regression of established osteosarcoma lung metastases.

The treatment of osteosarcoma pulmonary metastases remains a challenge. T cells genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR), which recognizes a tumor-associated antigen, have shown activity against hematopoietic malignancies in clinical trials, but this requires the identification of a specific receptor on the tumor cell. In the current study, we found that interleukin (IL...

P96: Progress in the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease by Gene Therapy

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by the aggregation of two proteins, amyloid-b and hyper phosphorylated tau, and by neuronal and synaptic loss. The progress of gene-modified cells and stem cells is a particularly promising therapeutic method for AD. Gene-Modified Cell-Based Therapy for AD prior to transplantation can be beneficial for increasin...

Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Nano niosomal Delivery system Containing paclitaxel drug for Drug Delivery to Osteosarcoma Cell Line (Saos-2)

Introduction: Osteosarcoma is one of the cancers that current treatment strategies using chemotherapy drugs have not been very successful due to multiple drug resistance and harmful side effects. The use of nano-niosomal systems in the delivery of paclitaxel is one of the attractive approaches to overcome these limitations. paclitaxel is a powerful anticancer agent used in the treatment of many...
